Hi there I’m Coral. Hello. And I’m Lindsey. And we’re here today to answer  your questions about home lifts. The most asked questions on  the internet. What are they? Let’s go and find out, shall  we? Some random questions. Okay. Let’s see what we got this time.  What we got here. First question..

What is the alternative to a lift in a house? Oh, I don’t like this question. I wanna put lift in. Yeah. Downstairs living, but that’s not  very nice. A horrible thought. Extension. But again, you’re just  downstairs then. Yeah. Moving. Yeah. You could be in a good area. Your  children might be in a lovely school. It might be the fact you’ve lived  in your house all your life. Yeah. And the heartache and  the leaving neighbours, friends. Having to pack your whole home up.  Just yeah. I couldn’t even bear that. Who, who wants to be, do I wanna a care home? Some people might be, well it might be moving in with family. Ugh. Yeah. Joking. That depends. Only joking all those family  that might be listening. But um, yeah, it’s a solution. I was the alternative just, uh, yeah, move house. Not well. Yeah. You could have to sort of an alternative  could be a sort of stairlift. Yeah. Are a lot cheaper. Uhhuh less sort of intensive. So, um, by that I mean they’re  sort of easier to fit. Yeah. There’s not any build and works  for the stair lift normally. Um, so yeah, those are kind of the  alternatives that you can have. Um, and obviously the whole purpose of having a lift is to be able to get  access to the whole house. So sort of trying to get access  to all of your house and just, you know, living downstairs an ideal scenario.

Um, so yeah. Alternative quite  and it’s probably cheaper. Cheaper to have a stairlift Yeah. Or cheaper. Yeah. But with a home lift, it’s cheaper than, than moving even  extensions and things like that. Absolutely. So, Okay. Perfect. Next question. Think that one was alright.  That one. Okay. Yeah. Oh. Oh God.

What are the disadvantages of a home lift? Well I’m gonna say space. Maybe you are having to give up  or allocate a bit of the room. I wouldn’t even like, like the footprint. Yeah. But yeah, but what we talking, Well if you imagine telephone box size,  bit bigger, you can remember what. They’ve got loads of years now  going telephone, what’s that? Shall we say 3ft by 3ft  maybe, something like that. A bit bigger. I dunno, I’m a bit  rubbish with sizes but if you, if you imagine like sort of the  size of a wheelchair or a chair and a little bit bigger, it depends  um, what sort of lift you go for. So some of the see this how you know  unscripted because if it was scripted, I’ll have footprint for you right now to show you. So that’s just proven. But it’s okay because all of the dimensions of the  lifts and we’re not gonna remember all of them. ‘Cause you do get, although  there is different types. Although there is, you know, a lift called this, there are actually different variations  of that lift with different platform sizes and it depends on what you want  to sort of use the lift for as to on how, how big it needs to be. So you are gonna have to use that space  whether it be, you know, you might, it might go in a spare bedroom or it might come down in your living room. I mean you obviously couldn’t, you can send it up out the way but you  just obviously couldn’t put a sofa there. I move your bed over, tear the  hair or something like that. That’s not a good idea. Um, there’s another disadvantage, disadvantages. Um, you have to have some  building works to get it in. Yeah. But we organize all, that’s  not something the customer, we can project manage the whole thing. Yeah. Um, electrics, plumbing work with pipes having to reroute pipe  works and stuff if necessary. Yeah. Um, we provide the drawings and everything that everybody needs so it’s  not, it’s not hassle for you. Um, but it is disrupted obviously the house.Yeah. When the actual work is gone  up, up, it can have to basically cut a hole within the ceiling. So Yeah. Sorry. Oh no, I was gonna say it can be quite  time consuming to get one installed as opposed to say a stair lift can take half a day. Yeah. Six, seven hours. Uh,  a home lift will take days. Yeah. So maybe sort of, I  wanna say four realistic. Three, four. But that includes the building work. Yeah. Um, ’cause sometimes it’s not  until you lift those floorboards up, we see a little pipe there that needs moving. You need to get a plumber out. Or electrics, that’s that. Within the sort of, um, in  the gap of the ceiling. I mean We’ve done some in two days, but I  would just have four days in mind. Just, just sort of bear in  mind. Okay. Next question. Here we go.

Does a home lift add value? Oh my god. I dunno how to answer that. It depends. I guess if you are, well it will add value in that, you know, if you look at an alternative  of say a moving house. or going into Yeah, like a care home or Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cutting your house Into a bungalow. Mm-Hmm. Um, then it does add to sort of personal value to you. Yeah. It’s something like if  you put a swimming pool in your back garden, well that make  the property more desirable, it will make it more desirable for somebody who wants a swimming pool in the back of garden. That’s true. That’s true. Um,  so I would say probably, uh, home lift is kind of along those sorts of lines. It depends if you actually  that’s want one or not. Yeah. Um, sometimes people can think that they are sort of a good idea. Let’s say if you’ve got an, uh, if you’ve got really big house and you’ve got like a a, an elevator style lift, then I would say that possibly does add value. Mm-Hmm. Um, whether a home lift adds value or not, I think that’s probably, um, sort of on, It’s so funny Whether that person actually who was moving to

Need It. I guess I Think your first answer was on on point because I’ve had customers  phone us when they’ve been looking for houses with wet rooms and stair lifts in. Yeah. It’s a, it’s a market isn’t it? Yeah. Whether it’s a great market. Yeah. I mean they, there is  an actual housing crisis on right now in that there are not a lot of properties, hardly any in  fact that are actually, um, designed with accessibility in mind. That’s true. Yeah. So it could be that it might make it more desirable. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and if you have a lift in, um, it, it may make it more sort of popular. Um, do they add value? I don’t, I’m not really, I don’t really know, but I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t let that sort of change your opinion or make you think, actually I’m not gonna get one. ’cause it’s not gonna add value  to the home because as quick and easy, I say quick, but as easy as they are to  install, they can be removed and you can have it your  house looking back to normal. Yeah. Um, the aperture filled and decoration done so as if  the lift had never existed. Yeah. So it’s not like it’s once it’s there,

it’s a necessarily Yeah. Yeah. So if, if anybody did  want to sort of buy a property that did have a lift, it could  easily be sort of removed. Removed. Yeah. Great point  Linz. Great point. We go. Okay. Next question.

Oh, well I wanna lift in my,  we’re following a theme here. Hold on. I, I Want one in my house. Is it good to have a lift at home? They are handy I guess. I mean, I haven’t got one personally. No. Um, but, but imagine if you did guess They’re quite handy. Think about the pro, I mean just think about it. Carrying your vacuum up.  That first thing I thought Of because I’ve got fan steps. Yeah. All of that malarkey, son’s cricket bag. That’s a pain, honestly. Um, I could honestly, yeah. Especially Carry a washing basket, something downstairs that’s not easy. Yeah. Um, depending on your volume of laundry, it’s only not easy in my, Just check it down one bit at time. Um, it’s good to have a lift at home. It’s definitely better than the alternate. Like Okay. Stair lift, Struggling on the stairs, then Struggling on the stairs. Yeah. If you are starting to feel, if the fact that you’ve even thought about it means you obviously are struggling. Yeah. One way or another.  Yeah. And it’s future proofing. You might be thinking, well, you know, if I am not gonna have a lift, I think about putting the lift on the market.

What is out there? There’s  not many bungalows. Mm. Um, So I would Say, I would say it Is good. That is a good idea. Isn’t a good idea. Particularly if you’re struggling with the stairs. Definitely. And obviously,  uh, you know, as we’ve said before in previous videos, please don’t think it’s you. That’s the problem. It’s not, it’s the stairs. We make houses with stairs and Oh, ridiculous. It, it, they’re made inaccessible  by design anyway. So Yeah. Stair lift or, or home lift. Um, they’re definitely making the house sort of accessible for everybody. Definitely. So, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Perfect. Okay.
